Every year in August the city of Buñol (near Valencia) experiences a whole new look, due to the tomatina festival. On the 27^th of August about 20.000 people meet in this city in order to participate in a huge tomato battle.

After many years of fights and resistance against the police trying to forbid the festival, it now became an enormous event, attracting many tourists from all over the world. Literally tons of tomatoes are used during this day, ‘painting’ the people, the streets, and the walls in red colour. It is recommended to wear goggles as eye protection.
