Santa Barbara Castle
This fortification stands right on top of the Mount Benacantil and its building time dates back to the 9th Century, when Spain was under the Muslim siege of the Iberian Peninsula. It was then taken by the Castilian rules in the late 1200’s. This fortress has operated with military purposes and also as a prison. It was abandoned until 1983, when it became open to the public again.
Basilica of Santa Maria
Built on the remains of a mosque in a Valencian Gothic style, this church dates back to the 14th Century. Its solemn and opulent statues and carved figures, including the front of the building, belong to the rococo period. During the Spanish Civil War, several images were mutilated, along with the destruction of an organ and a pile. Nowadays, this one of the most popular tourist attractions of the region.

It is wide open and it has great dimensions with small lakes and waterfalls, along with its typical vegetation and more than 7000 palm trees of all sorts. Visit this amazing park with Iberinbound DMC!
