Destination: La Toja Island, in Galicia

Enjoying the evergreen province of Galicia (Spain), its friendly people, rich in tradition, the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, its excellent cattle, because of its lush pastures and its fresh fish from the Atlantic Ocean. Near Pontevedra, just crossing the bridge of «O Grove», a paradise of seafood, you arrive at the island of La Toja, «O Toxa» in Galician language.

For centuries, La Toja was used by O Grove’s neighbors as a grazing place for their livestock (which they transported in canoes) as well as for their agricultural work. But following the rediscovery in the nineteenth century of its thermal mud (hence the name A Toxa) and its medicinal waters (the name Louxo), it became a private property to exploit its thermal assets, the construction of the old spa which produced a spectacular increase in tourism and the birth of other endowments.
In 1989, the island hosted the annual meeting of the Bilderberg Group’s secretariat, which brings together personalities from the world’s political and financial elites.

The spa’s of La Toja owe their success to the properties of its thermal waters with particular physicochemical characteristics which give them therapeutic properties. The hot springs of La Toja have beneficial effects on the skin and relaxing properties, both physical and mental.
These hot springs are used in external applications because of their high mineralization. They are characterized by their stimulating action of various organic and metabolic functions.
And as an added incentive, for fans of this sport, enjoy the facilities of the famous La Toja Golf Club.
