Porto is a very panoramic and atmospheric city, located in the North of Portugal, with the Douro River flowing through the city and creating a beautiful and mysterious view onto the colourful houses of the riverfront. It is the second largest city of Portugal, and can be best seen from one of the 6 bridges connecting the two divided city parts. The area around the river is called Ribeira and is a perfect and relaxing place to stroll around and get to know the Portuguese culture.
Porto is the origin and the namesake of the famous Port wine, as well as the actual origin of the country name Portugal. Cultural highlights are for example the Modern Art Museum or the spectacular Casa de Musica, the music hall of the city. It is nice to walk around the old part of the city, exploring the cathedral, the Palacio de Bolsa (former Stock Exchange Palace), or one of the many museums.
