Mallorca is famous for it´s sand, sun and sea. Yet it can be difficult to know which are the best beaches to visit. Here is our guide to the five prettiest beaches in Mallorca.
Cala D’Or
This beach is really five linked together. All of the beaches on this coast are centred around private coves, with aquamarine waters. They have rocks at the edges of the beach, perfect for sunbathing and snorkelling. The beaches are much less crowded than their more famous counterparts. Some would argue quieter due to their more rugged nature, but these inlets are among the most relaxing beaches in Mallorca. There are less facilities here than at other beaches, so be prepared to take your own food.
Cala Formentor
This beach is in the northern part of Mallorca and boasts some of the warmest and most picturesque water on the island. This beach is one of the quieter beaches in Mallorca, but it also contains a more rustic, Spanish charm. Boats dot the water and it is often visited by locals, so it is a great place to visit if you want to avoid hordes of tourists. It is also close to some of the main highlights in the northern end of the island. This also makes it one of the most accessible beaches in Mallorca.
El Calo Des Moro
This beach has long been talked about as being one of the prettiest beaches in Mallorca. It is entirely private, with no beach bars or restaurants. It is slightly cut off and requires a rather long walk down the cliff to reach it, but it is entirely worth it. One of the drawbacks is that it is smaller than some of the other beaches in Mallorca but it is extremely beautiful. It looks more like a Thai lagoon than a Mediterranean tourist hotspot. So if private and isolated is your thing, you cannot go wrong with this stretch of sand.
Cala Tuent
This is one of the best beaches in Mallorca for practicing water sports. It is sheltered entirely by pine trees and has an extremely picturesque church overlooking the water. The beach itself can be rockier than other beaches in Mallorca, but the water is crystal clear. This is also a popular choice for families as it is quieter and more spacious than the more tourist beaches. There are restaurants and cafes close by, but be prepared for them to be rather expensive.
Cala Deiá
This beach is one of the more famous beaches in Mallorca. It has been frequented by many famous people over the years and even appears in poetry. The beach itself is shingle rather than sand, but don´t let that put you off. The beach is secluded by cliffs and trees, making it very private. The beach is one of the most popular beaches in Mallorca with local people, so you can immerse yourself in the Mallorcan atmosphere. The waters are also crystal clear, which make it perfect for watersports.
S´illot
This beach is one of the smaller beaches in Mallorca. It is also one of the most laid-back. It is quite close to it´s famous neighbour Alcudia, but it is far less crowded. Again, this beach is sheltered but sunny. It is surrounded by the pine trees so typical on the island. The waters are a turquoise blue and are a favorite with snorkellers.
