The region of La Rioja is well-known for its wine routes and with its delicious and far distributed wines. With more than 500 wineries, it is a perfect area to taste the finest wines while travelling around the beautiful area of its capital Logroño, or other charming towns like Ezcaray, Elciego, or Cenicero. The region is full of history, footsteps of dinosaurs have been found and the first written words in the Spanish language are said to be written in the Monasteries of Yuso y Suso. The monasteries are UNESCO World Heritage Sites definitely worth a visit during the trip. tTe River Oja in the municipality of Santo Domingo de la Calzada , is the origin of the region’s name. The area is also part of the Way of St. James and pilgrims pass on their way.
